CLIL IN HIGHER EDUCATION

INTRODUCTION

CLIL IN HIGHER EDUCATION is a 10-hour Small Private Online Course (SPOC) for self-study.

The course is organised in five separate 2-hour modules:

• Module 1 – Using English to Teach
• Module 2 – What is CLIL?
• Module 3 – Teaching to Support English and Content Learning
• Module 4 – Scaffolding
• Module 5 – Assessment in CLIL

The SPOC CLIL IN HIGHER EDUCATION is brought to you by the WORKING CLIL STRAND of the Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (CETAPS) 
with the collaboration of two Erasmus+ funded projects:

TC NurseTranscultural Nursing: A European Priority, a Professional Responsibility as well as distinguished scholars in the area from Higher Education institutions in Portugal and Spain.

TARGET AUDIENCE

• Higher Education teachers and lecturers.
• Vocational Secondary Teachers.

LEARNING AIMS

• You will learn about CLIL, the integrated learning of content and language in contexts of Higher Education.
• You will learn to understand the linguistic and communicative needs of students who are learning in English, which for them is a foreign language.
• You will also learn to use effective learning and teaching strategies that support students in learning English and content in English.
